IMS in the U.S.: Insights, Innovation, and the Future of Language Access

Our U.S. trip has officially come to an end — and what a journey it has been! From New Orleans to Atlanta, Portland, and beyond, the IMS team had the privilege of meeting with clients, partners, and industry leaders. Along the way, we explored some of the most pressing challenges facing the language industry today and shared how our solutions — IMS Interpreter Management System and IMS.Connect — are designed to meet those needs.

The highlight of the trip was the ALC Summit, an incredible opportunity to connect, share, and learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry. The insights we gained will shape how IMS continues to deliver innovation that makes multilingual communication seamless, secure, and scalable.

Industry Insights & Trends We’re Seeing

During the Summit and our client meetings, several recurring themes stood out:

  • Vendor Flexibility Is Essential
Many organizations don’t want to be locked into one language service provider. Instead, they need vendor agnostic systems that allow them to connect with multiple LSP partners and choose what works best for their needs.
  • On-Demand Language Access Is Non-Negotiable
Hospitals, agencies, and enterprises need instant access to interpreters — whether via phone, video, or on-site. The demand for real-time solutions is growing faster than ever.
  • Interpreter Workflows Must Be Simplified
Agencies and hospitals are looking for ways to reduce administrative overhead — scheduling, tracking, and compliance management can no longer be manual or siloed.
  • Reliability Is Mission-Critical
Missed calls are not just inconvenient — in healthcare and public service, they can impact outcomes. Systems must be designed with fail-over routing and built-in resilience.
  • AI + Human Collaboration
AI is becoming an assistant — helping reduce friction, automate repetitive processes, and support interpreters — but never replacing the human expertise at the heart of interpretation.
  • Data & Compliance Drive Decisions
Leaders need better reporting, analytics, and tools to stay compliant with standards like HIPAA, SOC2, etc while still focusing on operational efficiency.

How IMS Is Addressing These Needs

These conversations confirmed the importance of the innovation path we’re on at IMS. Our products are built to solve the exact challenges we heard echoed across the U.S.:
