Why We Built IMS Pro

Everyone has the right to be understood. IMS Pro.

Everyone has the right to be understood.

Somewhere today, a person is sitting in a hospital, a courtroom, or a parent-teacher conference about their own child, and they cannot understand the words being spoken around them. Not because they are not listening. Because those words are not in their language.

In that moment, everything depends on one thing: whether the right interpreter arrives, and how quickly.

That moment matters more than any feature list. It is why we built IMS in the first place, and it is why we have now carried it forward as IMS Pro.

IMS has been the system behind interpreter management for language service departments around the world for years. IMS Pro is that same proven platform, rebuilt around everything those departments taught us: the same commitments, carried further.

An interpreter is not a commodity. They are not a line item to be sourced at the lowest price and forgotten. When someone cannot understand the diagnosis they have just been given, the charge they are facing, or the instructions that will keep their child safe, the interpreter is not a convenience. They are part of that person’s care. They are the difference between being spoken at and being understood. In a multicultural society, interpreters and translators are the glue: the people who make sure no one is left outside the conversation about their own life.

Health equity, legal fairness, a genuine education: none of these are real if they only exist in a language you do not speak. Someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, someone speaking in a language that is not their native tongue, someone navigating a system built for people unlike them, they do not need a barrier managed. They need it removed.

That is the work. Everything we built serves it.

So when we designed IMS Pro, the first question was still never “what features should a platform have.” It was “what does it take to put the right interpreter in front of the right person as fast as humanly possible, every single time?”

The answer is a platform that is intelligent, not merely digital. Fast to source. Easy to use, so a coordinator under pressure is helped rather than hindered. Smart enough to balance workload fairly, so your best interpreters are not run into the ground while others sit idle, and so a request is matched on more than availability alone. And efficient enough to save real money, because in a sector where budgets are stretched thin, every dollar saved on friction is a dollar that can reach another patient, another client, another child.

Intelligence, ease of use, and cost are not competing goals. Done properly, they are the same goal seen from three angles. A platform that sources the right interpreter quickly is, by definition, one that wastes less and costs less.

And we built all of it, not a slice. IMS Pro is not just interpreter scheduling. It carries interpreter scheduling, a full translation project module, and an inbuilt call center for on-demand telephone and video interpreting: three capabilities that few platforms anywhere in the world bring together. It connects to the systems you already live in: your financial software, the EMR systems your clients run, via HL7-compatible integration, with automatic notifications, templates, and workflows shaped by you, not by us. The point is simple: a language services company or department should be able to manage every request end to end, in one place, with full autonomy and control.

We should say plainly what we are proudest of, because it is not a feature and it is not a commercial position. It is the patient who arrives more frightened than anyone else in the ward, because on top of everything they cannot understand what is being said about their own body, and who leaves understood. It is the person in a courtroom, defendant or claimant, who can finally follow the process that will shape their life. It is the parents who sit across from a teacher and, for the first time, take part in every decision about their child’s education. Our platform reaches none of these people directly. Your interpreters and translators do. We are proud to be the thing that got them there faster.

And there is one commitment that sits beneath all of this. We stand by it without exception, and we are upfront about it with everyone we meet.

We do not supply interpreters. We never will.

We are agnostic, completely and deliberately. IMS Pro is a platform, not an agency. We do not compete with the people we serve. Some providers in this market do both: they sell you the software and they also supply the interpreters, which quietly makes them a rival for the very work that is your business. We think that is a conflict, and we refused to build it.

Instead, we built a platform that scales to reach interpreters wherever you choose to find them. Your own panel. Your trusted agencies. Your preferred networks. You configure where the work is sourced, based on who you trust, and IMS Pro does the finding, the matching, and the coordinating without ever putting its hand up for the job itself.

And we stay out of the commercial relationship entirely. You source your interpreters directly, or through the partners you trust, and you contract with them directly. They are paid directly. We are not the middleman, we take no cut, and we do not insert ourselves between you and the people you work with. Your business is your business, and no one else’s.

This independence matters in ways that go beyond principle. Your data sits with a partner who has no competing interest in it: we are not quietly running an interpreting business next door that could learn from your clients, your rates, or your volumes. And when the RFQs and RFPs go out, we are on your side of the table, helping you win with a brilliant platform as part of your offer, because the only way we win is when you do.

That is not a limitation. It is the point. Your relationships with your interpreters are the heart of your business. We built the platform to strengthen those relationships, not to stand between you and them.

This is why we built IMS Pro. Not to add another tool to a crowded market, but to bring something smarter and more principled to work that genuinely matters: making sure that when a person cannot understand what is happening around them, at the moments that shape their health, their freedom, and their future, the barrier does not get managed.

It gets removed.
